Honduras bound! Here we go.

Hey guys! It's Carrie! I'm back. For real. Like, seriously. Really. With a promise to keep blogging. Cross my heart!

And what the heck am I up to now?

Oh, I'm living in Honduras this time. :)

That's right, I'm headed back to Central America! During my 9-month Louisville layover, I just couldn't shake the itch to live abroad again -- and to be a part of NPH again. It made it hard to imagine myself in any U.S. city doing any job at all. It drove me crazy. It made me an insane person.

So in July, I started emailing some NPH contacts just to see what was out there. Did anyone know of any jobs anywhere? And that's when the funny part happened. After months of feeling opportunity-less and lost, with just a few emails, the opportunities started pouring in. Apparently that's what happens when you realize what you want.

On September 1, I accepted a position at NPH Honduras. In the six weeks since then, my life has been a whirlwind of car selling, vaccine getting, flight booking, insurance changing, job quitting, phone canceling, contact lens procuring, and more. (Discovery: You can, in fact, uproot your entire life in just six weeks. A big change doesn't require nearly as much time as you think it does.)

And starting in November, I will be the new Fundraising Projects Coordinator for the Honduras house. I'll fill you in with more information later, but it's essentially my job to look at the needs of the house (new roof? new uniforms? new farm animals?), turn them into specific fundraising projects, and work with the international fundraising offices to make projects happen. I'm excited. :)

I'm also excited to be living in Honduras! For one, I have high hopes for this country, site of the amazing scuba diving adventure. Two, the NPH Honduras home is a 2,000-acre ranch. That is awesome. And three, I'm joining Celeste! Once housemates at NPH Guatemala, we are now both employees at NPH Honduras. It's a small, funny world.

Alright, I should be packing. I just wanted to catch everyone up to speed -- and get you following the blog again!

Starting tomorrow, I'll be visiting NPH Guatemala (and reuniting with Katie, Leeah, and Celeste!!!!!) for a week and a half. I'll get to NPH Honduras around November 1, and then I'll do my best to start updating you all right away.

Until then, cuidate, and keep in touch. See ya soon!
